Handwritten OET letter checker: upload a photo, get a grade estimate
Short answer
If you practise OET Writing on paper, photograph your letter and upload it to medEmu. The photo is transcribed exactly as written — spelling and grammar mistakes included — and then graded like a typed letter on all six OET criteria. You can photograph the case notes too, so the grader checks your selection.
How it works
- Go to Check your own letter and choose Upload image for your letter.
- When asked whether you have the case notes, choose Yes and upload a photo or screenshot of them (or paste them).
- The letter is transcribed exactly as written. medEmu doesn't fix your spelling or grammar on the way in, because the grader needs to see your mistakes.
- The transcription is graded on the six criteria, with every correction marked on your own sentences.
Getting a clean transcription
- Photograph in good light, flat, with the whole page in frame.
- One page per photo works best; very small or faint handwriting is harder to read.
- PNG, JPG, HEIC and WebP up to 8 MB are accepted.
Why handwriting practice matters
If you sit OET on paper, your letter is handwritten, so legibility and finishing on time matter as much as language. Practising on paper and checking the result is the closest you can get to test conditions.
